“Freedom To Thrive” with supportive education on a non traditional journey

Our Amazing Team

Our teachers are highly experienced and provide customized learning and support based on individual student needs, identifying areas of strengths, skills, interests, and learning styles while providing targeted instruction and practice.

At TX Liberty Institute, our team believes students should have the Freedom To Thrive by offering flexibility to adjust the pace and schedule of learning based on the students needs and interests. We aim to disrupt traditional education methods by offering personalized, accessible, or engaging learning options to students of all ages. We achieve this through a variety of learning methods like hands-on activities, online learning platforms, interactive learning, field trips, and traditional textbook study.

Core academic subjects covered at TLI include math, science, language arts, social studies, and various electives.

“Freedom To Thrive”

MY STORY

Debbie Bergert

I had been teaching for several years and had a heart for students who struggled. I made it my mission to reach out personally to those kids and their families. It broke my heart to hear teacher gossip and warnings about kids who were “lazy” or likely to be “trouble makers” in my class. In fact, I made a special point of investing my time with these students. I sensed there might be some underlying factors going on and I wanted to help if possible. The reality is, these perceived “lazy and trouble makers” did have challenges which were barriers to learning. These students needed someone to meet them where they were in life, believe in them, and teach them in a way they could learn! Education is not one size fits all, and by providing individual modifications students can and will learn. I got an even deeper understanding of struggling parents and students after my child was diagnosed with a learning disorder. I saw how hard my child worked for their C’s and I equally saw the eye rolls, judgement, and disregard for the educational challenges at hand.

Over the next few years I diligently sought after resources for my child and other families experiencing similar problems. I began professionally working with school districts to enlighten other educators and share that the struggle is very real. I had a constant battle advocating for solutions. No, my child was not being lazy. Yes, they were working very hard. No, they really don’t understand the assignment. Yes, they were paying attention when directions were given the first time. Maybe you could just explain it in a way they can understand, and by the way, the insults are not helpful at all.

I later decided to join the homeschool community as I figured it was easier to teach my child directly. I remember the weight of teachers in the classroom, and the intense responsibilities that were placed upon them. All I wanted was someone to help my child until I realized that person was me!  I have met so many amazing families, all with varying reasons for homeschooling. The one thing we all have In common is our ability to provide individualized curriculum tailored specifically for each child.

TX Liberty Institute was later founded upon the principles that everyone is free to learn without oppressive restrictions and to pursue their own interests and preferences regarding education. Our belief is to allow students and families the “Freedom To Thrive” with supportive education on a non traditional journey. We believe in the ability to live a fulfilling and prosperous life without systematic barriers to reaching your full potential. Our IPHM practitioner and certified coaches address underlying factors that hinder progress. TX Liberty Institute works to achieve a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background, by advocating for reforms. It signifies the right to not just be free from limitations, but to actively flourish and grow in all aspects of life.
